It was fate that brought Bob Zukowski (President & Founder of Custom Sleep Design) into the mattress industry. In 2001, a devastating fire at Latex Foam Products ended his career in the production of latex cosmetic applicators. But as the company was rebuilt, an opportunity arose. Bob was reassigned to the bedding division of Latex International and over the next several years developed first-hand knowledge of the mattress industry.

In 2008, he felt that there was a void in the custom sleep niche of customized latex mattresses and decided to open his own Specialty Sleep business by creating a process that would provide the perfect sleep surface. He knew that a truly deep sleep experience was possible only by customizing each mattress for his customers based on their body shapes and preferred sleep position. His success rate has been impressive and his customers are intensely satisfied. He is passionate about making quality sleep a fundamental component of every customer’s life.

After experiencing some early success, Bob quickly realized that the specialty sleep market was growing and broadening into a very exciting business opportunity. To expand required assistance which Bob found through a local small business counseling organization. Bernie Pasierb, a serial entrepreneur in his own right, stepped up to the plate. He immediately recognized the vision that Bob had for his product and company, and decided to utilize his years of running various companies to help create something truly unique.

In growing the business, Bob and Bernie realized that with their process of collecting individual body information, a Custom Sleep Design mattress would be available to everyone without requiring a customer to walk through the door of a retail store. In fact, many customers really dislike visiting a mattress store and jumping from bed to bed.

Their vision is to offer an American made product that allows the user to achieve the best possible sleep they can, by building a mattress designed specifically to their Body Profile without the customer ever leaving the comfort of their own home.
